Walking is a great way to explore and enjoy Annapolis Royal and the town offers a number of different trails through town for both recreation and to incorporate active transporation into your daily routine! The downtown cores is connected to several trails that are easily accessible including the French Basin Trail, the Waterfront Boardwalk, Membertou Trail and the Harvest Moon Trail.
French Basin Trail
French Basin Trail is a 30-minute walk around a Ducks Unlimited wetland. Keep an eye open for several species of ducks, at least one pair of Great Blue Herons, a family of muskrats and possibly our resident foxes. The well-maintained gravel trail around the marshland leads onto the Harvest Moon Trail that goes east or west as far as your feet will take you.

The Membertou Trail in is an easy walking route that you can access from Chapel Street. It runs along the Annapolis Basin behind the Fortier Mills Subdivision, and connects with other local paths and the parking area behind the Fire Hall located at 5 St. Anthony St.
harvest moon trailway
The Harvest Moon Trailway is a scenic 110-kilometer (68-mile) multi-use former rail-trail that connects Grand Pré to Annapolis Royal. The western trailhead is in Annapolis Royal at the Skate Park and Dog Park located at 112 Prince Albert Road. The portion of the trail located in Annapolis Royal is great for walking and cycling, but motorized vehicles are not permitted. The trail offers a great opportunity for residents and visitors to incorporate walking into their daily activities, as it connects residential areas along St. George St with the downtown core.

The boardwalk is fully accessible and connects Town Hall to King’s Theatre and the Annapolis Royal Wharf. Stop along the way to take in the views and learn about the important connection between Annapolis Royal and the ocean.
